HENNOPS BLUE HORIZON’S SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT CAMPAIGN IN TEMBISA FOCUSING ON RAISING AWARENESS ON HEALING OUR RIVER WASTE MANAGEMENT

EMPOWERING THE COMMUNITY

Working on the concept of Ubuntu and the flow of the practice of yoga, Hennops Blue is engaging with the community of Tembisa in a healing the Hennops River and awareness campaign through the Life 4 U Foundation.

Ubuntu - a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity. Behaving in a way that benefits the community.

Flow - In positive psychology, flow, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energised focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

We will practice yoga flow.

We will work with Life 4 U Foundation https://life4ufoundation.yolasite.com/

Objectives of Ubuntu Flow

To engage with the volunteers and children at Life 4 U who come to aftercare between 3:30 and 4:30 Monday afternoons.

To start to make a small section of Tembisa aware of the damages solid waste pollution is doing to their water and river.  To educate children at Life 4 U Foundation on waste management and to begin the process of raising awareness to cleaning up the surrounding area of pollution.  We will unite with Life 4 U on various water and sanitation campaigns. The Ubuntu Flow yoga training program will entail the following.

Storytelling focusing on education on healing our water and river.

Yoga exercises focused around the theme of water and the river and healing the environment.

There are various yoga postures that bring in the river theme, namely boat, fish, dolphin and frog.

Waste management education.

Healing and stress release breath practices.

Relaxation techniques to clear the mind and inspire an uplifting way of living.

Educational flyers given to the children with an Ubutu logo lion to colour in.
