Today together with Life 4 U Foundation https://life4ufoundation.yolasite.com, Destination Green Recycling http://destinationgreen.co.za, Hennops Blue Horizon www.hennopsblue.co.za and the local ward committee, AREHLWEKISENG Let’s Clean Campaign was launched. The campaign will take place monthly in Tembisa to clean the environment of litter and uplift the community to help heal the Hennops River. The Department of Environmental Affairs and Community Workers Programme joined the event lending a strong hand of support. OUTsurance came on board supplying water, gloves, delicious sandwiches and bananas, which were welcomed after hard clean up work.
The campaign started with an educational talk at Moriting Primary School. Our children are the future of this beautiful country. Educating them on the importance of waste management and the value of our rivers and oceans is key to bring about change. Twenty eight beautiful trees were planted at the school, kindly sponsored by Matthew de Broglio and provided to us by Helen Duigan from ARMOUR http://www.armour.org.za/wp/ .
The Sedibeng Stream, which runs through Mashimong Park (a tributary stream leading into the Hennops River) sparkled after the event. Thank you to all volunteers involved. Even sacred cows and their playful calves fed on the banks of the river after the clean - Mother Nature in her supreme glory giving thanks for union and hope for restoration.
