31 July, 2018 saw ward councillors, members of DWA, representatives from Tshwane, City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Fresh, Hennops Blue, ERWAT, AfriForum, Midstream Estate and various stakeholders meet at Rietvlein Dam Nature Reserve in the interest of healing the Hennops River.
After intensive discussions, including introducing the Forum to Hennops Blue’s interactive website which will be used as a dynamic platform towards healing the river, the Forum concluded that it is now time to unite efforts and take action working towards projects to heal the river. Justice Maluleke, Director: Water Regulation and Use from the Department of Water and Sanitation, spoke extensively and outlined that he would take an active role in getting the three municipalities, Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni to work towards healing the Hennops.
The meeting was positive and focused driven and we look forward to aligning again on Sept 25 to discuss the way forward.
